I'm Back!

Did you miss me? I thought I'd stop in for a quick update. I'm going to try and be a little more consistent in my blogging. Don't expect one everyday but I'll try to at least stop by a few times a month.
So here's what's been happening for the last few months. I enrolled in 11 hours at TCC for the fall. I'm taking Developmental Psychology and Government. I was enrolled in General Chemistry but had to drop the class for a number of reasons. I had missed the first 2 weeks of class while I was on my cruise, so I didn't even know any of the basics. Also, I had never taken chemistry before, not even in high school, and I had chosen to take the more difficult chemistry class. Wrong choice! The reason I chose to take the harder class is that it's required for the bachelors degree, so I thought I'd just get it out of the way now instead of taking the basic chemistry class and then have to go back and take the general chemistry class when I go back for my bachelors. But oh well! I'll just have to take 2 chemistry classes. Developmental psychology and Government were both classes I had to re-take because I had failed one and gotten a D in the other when I had taken them previously. The Dev. psych class I had taken online, which I had never taken an online class before, and I did horrible! Online classes do not work for me! The Government class I think I did badly in it because I just slacked off. It was my 3rd semester at TCC and I was getting lazy. Anyway, I re-took both classes this semester and I MADE THE SAME MISTAKE AS LAST TIME!!!!!!!! I slacked off in my government class and it looks like I'm going to have to re-take it AGAIN!!!! I'm so mad at myself!!! And the thing that stinks even more is that I don't know anything about government, I don't follow politics or even care to. I don't need the class for my major but it's a required class! It's a waste of my time! Ok enough ranting! I just need to adjust my attitude about the class and see it as an opportunity to learn more about our government system and how it works so that I can make more informed decisions when it comes to voting. So it looks like I'm going to have to suck it up and take it again. (Big sigh)I'm planning on starting in the nursing program by fall. Next semester I'll be taking Mircrobiology and Anatomy and I might take Chemistry as a Saturday class, and I hate Saturday classes! But I need to get it out of the way. I was going to take it in the summer but now that I have to re-take government I think I better take it sooner rather than later. In the summer, I'll take Government and Physiology and then I'll be all set to start in the nursing program in the fall!!! Wahoo! I can't wait to start! I need to do better in my classes though instead of just doing as little as I have to.
Ok on to another topic. In September I went on an Alaskan cruise and it was awesome! Are port was in Seattle and I absolutely loved the little bit of the city I saw! My mom and I want to go back to Seattle some time and be able to see all of its sites! I think I had more fun on the boat then I did off the boat though. We only went on one excursion and it was the Alaskan Lumberjack Show and Totem Bights tour. The lumberjack show was hilarious!!! There were two teams: The Alaskan team and the Canadian team. The audience was split up and one half cheered for each team. My family and I were on the side cheering for Alaska, and I must say are guys were much better looking then the other team! ;) According to the host the way you cheer for lumberjacks is by shouting "Yo-ho!" So we were all really getting into it and screaming and cheering "yo-ho!" It was a blast! The Totem Bights tour was ok, it was basically a tour of a bunch of old totem poles and the story behind them. My dad really enjoyed it though! The entire experience was a blast though! My mom and I were roommates and we always have a good time together! Kayleigh and her friend Hannah shared a room and my dad shared a room with his friend Dave. We all kinda did our own thing and met up or ran into each other occasionally. My mom and I did get to see a baby whale! We also saw another whale but just the blowhole. And we saw a sea lion when we were docked in Canada. The ship was amazing! It had 13 restaurants, a movie theatre, a performance theatre, a casino and a gift shop! I can't believe it's only been a few months since the cruise. It feels like it's been ages!
Ironically, it also seems like this year has flown by! I can't believe that Christmas is in 2 1/2 weeks! I still have tons of shopping to do! I love this time of year, despite the financial drain! I love getting gifts for everyone, especially when I know they're going to love what I picked! And I love all the decorations, the music, the cheerfulness! It just amazes me every year! My favorite part though is all the family gatherings! I love being able to see them all, and I wish it wasn't only once or twice a year that we all get together.
Oh, I have one more update before I get off here and get back to work! I've put in an application at St. Francis Hospital for the position of an Assistant Nurse. So I would greatly appreciate any and all prayers that I receive this job! I still love it at ORU and will be sad to leave here, but a job at a hospital will not only be wonderful training but will get my foot in the door for a position there when I actually have my degree! Thank you much! And I'll try to stop by more often! TTFN!

Me again!

Next week I get to go back to being me again! Wahoo! I can't believe it's been two weeks since I last blogged! I've just been to busy to do anything. I've barely had time to check my email. It's been fun though and definitely a good learning experience. It's great being able to help the students and parents out and answer there questions. Unfortunately, there are some students that we just can't do anything to help them no matter how much we wish we could. But even though I enjoyed filling in for Tanya and Sue, it will be nice going back to being me. I miss the slow pace of the teller line sometimes. I'm sure once I spend a week over there I'll be wanting to come back over here because it's too slow! LOL! But I'll actually have time to blog, read my books, do suduko puzzles and other leisurely things again. Yay!

School and Frustations!

Just a quick note. I've changed my mind about what I'm doing as far as going back to school. As soon as I think I have everything worked out as far as school goes, I find something out or figure something out that completley messes up my whole plan. So here's the new plan:
I'm going to go to school at Tulsa Community College and get my associates.
Barring any complications I'm going to finish up school and get my bachelors at ORU or possibly another university that has a good program but isn't quite as expensive.

Here's my reasoning behind this. Although I get to attend ORU with my tuition paid in full, I can only take up to 6 hours a semester. At that rate it would take years for me to get my degree. Secondly, the general fee which I would have to pay myself is 125.00 and then I'd still have to pay for my books. Now I could take as many hours as possible at ORU and pay the difference of the tuition myself, but its $470.00 per hour!!! So I've decided to attend TCC where it is less expensive and I can take more hours because they offer more night classes and Saturday classes. I might actually be able finish school on time by attending TCC. Also, I was looking on line at TCC and found an estimation of the expenses for getting your associates in the nursing program, and for tuition, fees, books, and supplies for the whole time I would be attending it was about $8600.00!!! That's less than one semester at ORU!!!

What I'm going to do though before I make any final decisions is set up an appointment to see the dean of nursing here at ORU and set up an appointment to see a counselor at TCC. Hopefully I'll get everything figured out after I speak with them.

And I thought this would just be a quick note! LOL!

Identity Crisis

The past three weeks I've been having a major identity crisis, and possibly split personalities! I have been Marcia, Lorie, Susan, Tanya, and Sue on top of being me! Some days I was three people at once and others just two. It has been very exhausting and at times a little confusing! Ok maybe it isn't as major as split personalities or an identity crisis. Truth be told all I was doing was filling in for these people while they were/are on vacation and/or sick. It might be tiring at times and I might not feel like I know what I'm doing occassionally but it has been a good learning experience. Especially being Tanya and Sue because it helps me train for that position which is what I'll be moving up to as soon as there is an opening. Wahoo!

Thank goodness for pool boys and boarding school!

On Monday I went over to Aunt Kahri's house to help her get her pool going. She had been having many complications with the pool and had to end up getting a new motor, new hosing to connect the motor to the pump and had been running all over town for stuff for the pool all week. We hooked the motor up and connected the pump and motor with the hose but we didn't have any o-rings to secure the hose on, so we just left the hose on there as it was for now. After we finished with that we went to the garage to work on putting together the ladder for the pool. We ended up having to go back outside to measure the pool so that we had the correct lengths for the ladder. After we had measured Kahri and I walked over to the pump and she decided to turn it on so that the pool could get circulating. Well she had forgotten that we didn't have the o-rings on and the hose flew off and we both got sprayed with water!!! We were cracking up! And as we walked back to the garage Kahri said, "I love my pool, but I don't like pool maintenance. It's the same with children. I love my children, but I don't always like raising them." And I replied, "Well, that's what pool boys and boarding school are for!"

Tackle It Tuesday

I decided to join in on Tackle It Tuesdays, because I have lots of things to tackle!!! This week I'm going to be tackling my room. I don't have any pictures at the moment because I just now decided to join in but I will take pictures tonight and edit them in tomorrow. Just an advanced warning, be prepared to see a disaster area!!!

The first thing I'm going to start off doing is my laundry. I'm going to get all of my clean clothes that are sitting in my laundry baskets and put them away and get my dirty laundry washed and put away. Next, I'm going to work on my floor. I'll probably start off with just making piles according to where I want that stuff to go and then leave the piles there while I work on cleaning off my bookshelf and coffee table because I know I'll have more stuff to add to the piles as I clean off those. Once I have my bookshelf and coffee looking the way I want then I'll work on the piles in the floor. And once I've completed that I'll work on my closet. I'm going to take the stuff on the shelf in my closet and put them into a few tubs that I bought and I'm going to put my extra bedding that I have in XL Ziploc bags on that shelf instead. Also, I'm going to try to get my room painted this weekend. I'm not sure if that's going to happen yet or not. I think that's all for now. Remember to check back for my before pictures of my tornado struck room! LOL!

For more Tackle It Tuesdays check out http://www.5minutesformom.com/

Update: I keep forgetting to take pictures of my room and post them. I will do my best to remember to take them and have them posted by tomorrow.

8 Random Facts

I was tagged by Aunt Kahri to write 8 random facts about me. So here I go.

1. I think that a nice, juicy steak and a tall glass of orange juice are a perfect combination!
2. I always have to have music playing. If I don't have access to music then I'll make my own by singing.
3. I busted my chin four different times as a child and never got stitches.
4. The first time I ever had stitches was about 4 years ago. I sliced through the tendon on my left middle finger cutting the plastic wrap off a whole chicken. The stitches were in a U shape and the doctor told me that I just needed to put two dots above the stitches and then when I flipped someone off my finger would be smiling at them! LOL! But of course I don't make such hand gestures!
5. I change my signature every few years. I'm actually thinking about changing it again.
6. I'm very neurotic about ceratain things. For instance, it bothers me when people leave cabinet doors open or when someone doesn't turn the light off when they leave the room.
7. I tell my mom every day that it is my birthday! She never gets many anything though! :(
LOL!
Ok one more. Think, think, think. I got it!
8. My senior year of high school I was put in in-school suspension for skipping school and I liked being in there more than being in class because I would get all of my work for the day at once and I could work on it and have it all finish in the morning and have the rest of the day to read my books! If it were up to me I would've stayed in there the whole year! LOL!

And there you have it ladies and gentlemen!

I'm Still Here!!!!

You thought I'd left for good didn't you? Well I don't have much of an update on me but I do have a very exciting update on my parents! My dad has been working on opening up his own barbecue place for a long time. A few years ago they were trying to get everything worked out to open up a restaurant but that fell through. And recently my dad has been working on trying to start a meat wagon. Well this time everthing is going very smoothly! He was somehow introduced to the owner of a smoke shop. He's Native American and the land he is on is Native American also. Well he told my dad that he can use his parking lot to set up his meat wagon and he's not going to charge my dad for using the land! Also he's not going charge my dad for water or electricity, and my dad will be using quite a bit of electricity! Furthermore he told my dad that he doesn't need to worry about paying him taxes and he won't need to charge his customers tax! So all the money that my dad gets from selling his barbecue will be his to keep!!! What a blessing!!! The other exciting news for my parents is that they are taking out a large loan. They're going to pay off my mom's car, my dad's car, all of their credit cards, they're going to buy a truck from my dad's friend, and the rest is going to go towards fixing up our house! We're going to fix the plumbing and possibly get a new bathtub, we're going to get new carpet, fix the guttering and all kinds of 0ther stuff! I'm excited for them! Also they're going to use some of that money so that the four of us, me, my mom and dad, and my younger sister Kayleigh, can go on an Alaskan cruise! It was just going to be my parents going but now they are going to pay for my sister and me to go! I've never even been on an airplane before and now I get to go to fly to Seattle, Washington, go on a cruise to Alaska and Canada, and fly back home!!!! I am soooooo excited!!! I wish it was September now and time to board that plane!!! I'm hoping that we'll have some time to tour Seattle as well!!!! I better start saving my money!!! I know I'll have lots of shopping I'll want to do!!! There's a lot of exclamation marks in this blog! Can you tell I'm excited?

Frustrations!!!

Ack! Ok I just wrote this blog and accidently erased it all!!!! So I'm starting over again.

What a morning! I woke up late this morning and hopped in the shower. And then I spent the rest of the morning trying to find something to wear. I tried on two skirts and neither of them fit which was depressing! I am always running late for work!!! I should be super skinny from all the many times that I've been "running" late. Eventually I just went into my sister's room and grabbed a pair of her pants. I ended up leaving the house at 8:00 which is when I'm supposed to be at work! And on top of everything I had to walk through a big ol' puddle to get out of my car!

Ok I have to admit that my being late all the time is my own fault. I have a few problems that I need to address. One of them is my laundry. I need to do my laundry and then actually put it away. That's my big problem with laundry. I never put it away. I always leave in the laundry basket and then when I'm looking for something to wear I have to dig through the basket to find something.

The other problem I have is very serious! It may require counseling to get recover from this problem. It is a rebellion issue; against my alarm clock! I know, I know it's crazy! Why would anyone rebel against an inanimate object? I have issues I guess. The alarm goes off every morning and I think, "You can't tell me what to do! I'll get up when I'm good and ready to!" And then just to spite my alarm clock I'll lay there for as long as possible before getting out of bed. The irony is that I'm the one that sets the clock to go off! I need help!

Another issue that I've recently encountered, which has absolutely nothing to do with getting to work on time, is a new addiction. I am now addicted to blogging!!! I knew that my Aunt Kahri was addicted to blogging but I had no idea that it was a common thing or that it was likely to happen to me! There should be a warning label when you sign up for a blog. WARNING: Blogging is highly addictive! Some studies have shown that it can lead to dependency! So now instead of working I am blogging! Speaking of work, it's time that I get back to it.

Memory Monday

Kahri came up with a new thing! Memory Mondays!!! I thought I'd join in! Anyone else on board? Next Monday I'm going to do my own Where I'm From.

One of my fondest memories as a child is sitting in bed with my maternal Grandma and singing with her. She had this big book of songs, some she had written and some were just her favorite hymns. She would start singing the song and once I figured out the tune I quickly joined in. She asked me once, "Sherria, do you know these songs?" And I told her that I didn't and she said, "You sure do pick them up quickly!" I don't know how long we sat there singing together or what had made my grandma bring the book out in the first place. After my grandma died my mom gave me that book of songs. I would ask my mom to sing them with me occassionally.

I'm sorry to say now that I lost the book a long time ago. I don't know how it happened though because I always kept it in the drawer in the headboard of my bed. But I haven't seen it in years. I used to joke that my grandma came and took it because she missed it. If I could find one thing out of all the things I've lost I would love to find that book!

Here I go!

Ok, my first real blog! So today my mom and I decided to have lunch together. We used to have lunch together practically everday when I was working at Guitar Center and she was working at Arkansas Valley State Bank. I would get off work at 11:00 am and we'd meet (usually at Rib Crib) and have lunch. Well now I work at Oral Roberts University and she is working at Oklahoma Central Credit Union at 41st and Garnett. She doesn't usually have the car, my dad usually drops her off so we never have the chance to meet for lunch anymore. Well, today she actually had the car. So we decided that we would meet at 41st and Lewis. We ended up meeting at 41st and Yale because there aren't any restaurants at 41st and Lewis. We decided to eat at Whataburger and by the time we sat down to eat we only had 30 minutes left to eat and get back to work! So, to our disappointment, it is not very convenient for us to have lunch together. Maybe we can find another location that isn't very busy and it will work out better. 41st and Yale has Promenade mall and the entrance and exit ramps for I-44 so it's not the best place to go through with all that traffic. I'm sure we'll eventually find somewhere that works out!

On to other topics. School. I'm trying to get enrolled for summer and for fall classes and there's quite a bit to do. I though that I was almost done and then all the sudden I found out that I still have a bunch of stuff that I need to do. My fafsa was selected for verification so I have to gather up all of my tax records and my parents tax records for 2005 and take them to the Financial Aid office. Also, I have to go online and fill out a verification worksheet! It doesn't surprise me though. My parents tax information from 2005 was sooo confusing!!! It took me forever just to fill it out and now I have to do even more with the tax stuff! Also, one of the classes I wanted to enroll in for fall is full and I really wanted to be in this one because it's a night class and it only meets once a week. The professor got really good reviews too on ratemyprofessor.com. So, I have to go to the professor and fill out a petition to be force added to his class. I don't even know what the procedure is for that or if he'll even approve it. If not then I'll have to enroll in a different class. I also need to get my commuter status for fall and I need to go to the nursing department and talk to someone and make sure that I'm on the right track for the nursing program. And last but not least I have to get my books for summer. I'll have to wait and do that though until next month probably. My first class starts June 18. I don't think I'm fully aware of what I'm getting myself into! Working full time and taking summer classes which meet everday and are 3 hours long! But, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!!! So I'm going to do this and earn my degree in nursing in no time at all!!! Wahoo!!!
