Did you miss me? I thought I'd stop in for a quick update. I'm going to try and be a little more consistent in my blogging. Don't expect one everyday but I'll try to at least stop by a few times a month.
So here's what's been happening for the last few months. I enrolled in 11 hours at TCC for the fall. I'm taking Developmental Psychology and Government. I was enrolled in General Chemistry but had to drop the class for a number of reasons. I had missed the first 2 weeks of class while I was on my cruise, so I didn't even know any of the basics. Also, I had never taken chemistry before, not even in high school, and I had chosen to take the more difficult chemistry class. Wrong choice! The reason I chose to take the harder class is that it's required for the bachelors degree, so I thought I'd just get it out of the way now instead of taking the basic chemistry class and then have to go back and take the general chemistry class when I go back for my bachelors. But oh well! I'll just have to take 2 chemistry classes. Developmental psychology and Government were both classes I had to re-take because I had failed one and gotten a D in the other when I had taken them previously. The Dev. psych class I had taken online, which I had never taken an online class before, and I did horrible! Online classes do not work for me! The Government class I think I did badly in it because I just slacked off. It was my 3rd semester at TCC and I was getting lazy. Anyway, I re-took both classes this semester and I MADE THE SAME MISTAKE AS LAST TIME!!!!!!!! I slacked off in my government class and it looks like I'm going to have to re-take it AGAIN!!!! I'm so mad at myself!!! And the thing that stinks even more is that I don't know anything about government, I don't follow politics or even care to. I don't need the class for my major but it's a required class! It's a waste of my time! Ok enough ranting! I just need to adjust my attitude about the class and see it as an opportunity to learn more about our government system and how it works so that I can make more informed decisions when it comes to voting. So it looks like I'm going to have to suck it up and take it again. (Big sigh)I'm planning on starting in the nursing program by fall. Next semester I'll be taking Mircrobiology and Anatomy and I might take Chemistry as a Saturday class, and I hate Saturday classes! But I need to get it out of the way. I was going to take it in the summer but now that I have to re-take government I think I better take it sooner rather than later. In the summer, I'll take Government and Physiology and then I'll be all set to start in the nursing program in the fall!!! Wahoo! I can't wait to start! I need to do better in my classes though instead of just doing as little as I have to.
Ok on to another topic. In September I went on an Alaskan cruise and it was awesome! Are port was in Seattle and I absolutely loved the little bit of the city I saw! My mom and I want to go back to Seattle some time and be able to see all of its sites! I think I had more fun on the boat then I did off the boat though. We only went on one excursion and it was the Alaskan Lumberjack Show and Totem Bights tour. The lumberjack show was hilarious!!! There were two teams: The Alaskan team and the Canadian team. The audience was split up and one half cheered for each team. My family and I were on the side cheering for Alaska, and I must say are guys were much better looking then the other team! ;) According to the host the way you cheer for lumberjacks is by shouting "Yo-ho!" So we were all really getting into it and screaming and cheering "yo-ho!" It was a blast! The Totem Bights tour was ok, it was basically a tour of a bunch of old totem poles and the story behind them. My dad really enjoyed it though! The entire experience was a blast though! My mom and I were roommates and we always have a good time together! Kayleigh and her friend Hannah shared a room and my dad shared a room with his friend Dave. We all kinda did our own thing and met up or ran into each other occasionally. My mom and I did get to see a baby whale! We also saw another whale but just the blowhole. And we saw a sea lion when we were docked in Canada. The ship was amazing! It had 13 restaurants, a movie theatre, a performance theatre, a casino and a gift shop! I can't believe it's only been a few months since the cruise. It feels like it's been ages!
Ironically, it also seems like this year has flown by! I can't believe that Christmas is in 2 1/2 weeks! I still have tons of shopping to do! I love this time of year, despite the financial drain! I love getting gifts for everyone, especially when I know they're going to love what I picked! And I love all the decorations, the music, the cheerfulness! It just amazes me every year! My favorite part though is all the family gatherings! I love being able to see them all, and I wish it wasn't only once or twice a year that we all get together.
Oh, I have one more update before I get off here and get back to work! I've put in an application at St. Francis Hospital for the position of an Assistant Nurse. So I would greatly appreciate any and all prayers that I receive this job! I still love it at ORU and will be sad to leave here, but a job at a hospital will not only be wonderful training but will get my foot in the door for a position there when I actually have my degree! Thank you much! And I'll try to stop by more often! TTFN!
